Gina Haining
Gina Haining is an artist born in the industrial steel town of Gary, Indiana. After earning a degree in journalism from Indiana University, she moved to the West Coast in pursuit of adventure, self-discovery, and artistic exploration. A lifelong learner, Gina privately studied acting, painting, and meditation.
“My current paintings are mostly minimal abstract landscapes and coastal settings made from many layers of textures and color. I find the process of painting meditative and calming. There are so many distractions in the world today vying for one’s attention – an overload, it’s easy to get caught up. I hope to create a place to rest one’s eyes and find space, float around, and release the mind, as I do when I create a piece. Abstraction is curious because one painting can have various meanings to different people, depending on their state of mind, which I find very intriguing.”
